Our family enjoys vegetables and fruit, and we prepare most of our foods at home, making the Pridebit 2 in 1 Julienne & Vegetable Peeler quite intriguing.

With a large family where most of us cook often, we use a variety of peelers, shredders, and julienne tools in our kitchen and each person seems to have their personal favorite.  I was interested to see who would prefer the Pridebit tool over his or her current choice.

I first examined the Pridebit 2 in 1 and was very impressed with the apparent quality.  It’s made with a quality stainless steel and is quite sharp.  Being stainless, I expect it will hold that sharpness, but will certainly test that over time, as well.

A nice appearance is fine, but it needs to make great shoestring potatoes and apples, peel carrots and make matchsticks for our salads, and create beautiful zucchini matchsticks, too.  The Pridebit does all of this and more.  It is capable of peeling any of our hard vegetables and makes perfect shoestring potatoes, not too thick, but also not so thin they are not easily cooked.  I am right handed and like the way it handles when using it, but family members who are left handed also find it easy to use.  It’s nice to have one tool that both can use!

We decided that this peeler and julienne does indeed live up to the sharpness and usability claims.  The julienne vegetables and fruit are all fairly uniform and about the perfect size for using fresh in salads, or for cooking in soups, stews, and as shoestring potatoes.

But what about ease of cleaning?  The site says that it will easily clean in the dishwasher, but I prefer to handwash my cooking utensils.  It comes with its own brush to safely clear the trimmings from the blade area.  The brush works very well.  I then rinsed it under running water, swished it through the dish water, and rinsed again.  In less than a minute of cleaning, it is as clean as new!

We have electric appliances that make very nice julienne vegetables, but they are more work to set up, and much more to clean after use.  If I were processing a huge amount of vegetables at one time, I might drag out the electric appliance, but for just a few, the Pridebit is my new found favorite!
