AYL Ultra Bright LED Camping Lantern Review

We keep an emergency supply ready for hurricanes and storms, and also use lights often on our farm.  Finding a good lantern is not easy, but the AYL Ultra Bright LED Camping Lantern is one we will be keeping!

AYL lanternIt looks quite sturdy, an important factor for a light we’ll use often on our farm.  It’s also quite light for it’s size, and that’s a consideration since we carry lanterns, in addition to using them on a table.  It is said to be water-resistant which should be helpful when we are checking on animals in the rain.

This lantern is bright enough to light up our largest room in the house when storms cut our electricity. That makes it easy to navigate without needing to carry a flashlight (we just leave it on a center table) and it’s bright enough to let the kids play board games or read.

The 300 lumen output LED bulbs give off a lot of light, enough so that we can use it in the field and see for some distance.   It has 3 lighting modes: low, high, and a flashing strobe.  High is very bright and what we need for most night time uses, but the low is perfect for storm times to light the way around the house.  I’m not sure we will use the strobe much, but can see using it to signal when we are out at night.

The manufacturer states that it will give over 100,000 hours of use and the batteries last for 6 full days of power.  Those  are important points for an emergency lantern as a hurricane can leave us without power for many days and even weeks.  Longer battery life means that we need to keep fewer batteries.

We’ll be adding extras of these to our emergency supplies and another one to our farm use.  These also have been added to my “gift to give” so family should expect a lantern this year!
