Carpathen Companion Light S Headlamp Review

Life on a farm does not end at dusk; we use headlamps, flashlights, and lanterns on our farm daily.  But so many affordable lamps are just not durable and often break down or quit working within a short while  I was anxious to try Carpathen Companion Light S Headlamp in hopes it was one of the better quality headlamps.

carpathen headlampI was impressed with the initial appearance of quality as I took it out of the package.  The batteries (not included, by the way) are kept securely in the compartment by screws.  Yes, this makes it less convenient to change the batteries when they need, but it also ensures they don’t come out in the dark.  The head strap is fully adjustable and very comfortable.  The case is plastic, but seems rugged enough for our normal daily use. I like that it’s not so smooth as to be hard to hold; in fact, it has a nice texture to it.  So far, so good.

The headlamp comes with 2 buttons which each control a light, one white, one red.  The white has 3 modes, high, low, and strobe.  It lights up well and is easy to see using the white light.  It’s not a wide flashlight, but for walking or working, it has more than enough light.   The red has 4 LED”s and  has  just 2 modes, high and strobe, appropriate for the emergency function.  It, too, lights up for quite a distance.  The buttons worked well and don’t feel wobbly.  I think they will last through daily use.

I’m very impressed with this light; it’s a good quality for most applications.  I recommend having a couple on hand with spare batteries for those emergency times or for daily use.
