Fractionated Coconut Oil Review

I use essential oils for many things and have often used organic virgin coconut oil as a carrier oil.    Recently,  I decided to try a different coconut oil,  Bayleaf Botanicals Fractionated Coconut Oil, to compare.

While I like the virgin coconut oil for cooking and baking, it is a bit oily when used as a carrier oil.  The fractionated coconut oil is made from the same base, but has the  long chain triglycerides removed. This makes the oil less oily than virgin coconut oil and generally  better  for use as a skin care product or carrier oil.  FractionBaated coconut oil has a higher concentration of Capric acid and Caprylic acid, making it a better antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and disinfectant. Unlike virgin coconut oil, fractionated remains a liquid when cold and has very little scent. Fractionated coconut oil is not usually used in cooking, though it can be.

Bayleaf Botanicals Fractionated Coconut Oil comes with a very usable pump, making it quite easy to use.  I blended a little with  a few drops of various oils.  It mixed well with each I tried and massaged into skin very nicely with no greasy feel.  It does seem to moisturize, but with less of an oily feel than the virgin coconut oil I normally use, making it preferable when I don’t need the extra oils.

This is my new favorite carrier oil for essential oils and herbal blends.  It’s not only a wonderful oil, but it’s quite reasonbly priced and the pump makes it easy to use.
